Dr. Alyssa Essman - OSU, Weed Science
Christopher Pancake - ODA, H2Ohio Program Expansion
Angie Dye - FSA, Updates
Kendra Miller - USDA, Updates
Emily Price - NRCS, Updates
Carri Jagger - OSU Extension, County Plot Research
Tyler Butler and Mike Clapper - Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District
This year our County Plot Research focused it's attention on soybean relative-maturities (trials include 2.8, 3.0 and 3.2 relative-maturity) and the effectiveness of biological fertilizers on yields.
Relative-maturity refers to the number of days between expected full growth between varieties. Typically, the longer it takes to reach maturity, the better the yield. The numbers representing soybean maturity varieties refers to 10-day increments between whole numbers. for an example, 2.5 beans should reach maturity 5 days prior to a 3.0 variety. Of course, maturity rate in not the only factor affecting soybean success in the field, but understanding relative-maturities could prove beneficial in annual planning for fields in rotation.
Biological fertilizers (biofertilizers) aim to benefit your crops by establishing nitrogen fixing bacteria and fungal
cultures in your soil that will participate in the natural process of converting atmospheric nitrogen to plant ready nitrogen.
This event is free to attend, lunch will be provided by Wagner's Pork.
RSVP to the Morrow Soil and Water office at (419) 946-7923, however, this is not required for your attendance.
We hope to see you there!
