As the '23-24 school year approaches it's end many students find themselves planning for the next chapter in their education. With tuition on the rise students and parents alike must consider the opportunities to offset the cost of post-secondary education however and whenever possible. Concurrently, Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District strives to recognize local students that continually display the motivation, dedication and pure grit that it takes to navigate the learning process.
With a deadline of March 29th, 2024, MSWCD (possible through the generosity of our local producers and their families) will be offering four academic scholarships for the '24-25 school year.
The scholarships are as follows:
The Steve Ruhl Memorial Scholarship ($500)
To residents of Morrow County that are enrolled as a full-time college student maintaining a 2.5 GPA or higher and dedicating their course of study to environmental issues, agriculture and/or education.
The Don McGinnis Memorial Scholarship Fund ($500)
To students graduating from one of the five Morrow County high schools (Cardington Lincoln, Gilead Christian, Highland Local, Mount Gilead Exempted Village or Northmor Local) maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher and pursuing an environmental or agricultural course of study.
The Robert Wuertz, Jr. Memorial Scholarship ($1000)
To students graduating from one of the five Morrow County high schools (Cardington Lincoln, Gilead Christian, Highland Local, Mount Gilead Exempted Village or Northmor Local) maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher and pursuing a mechanical or agricultural course of study.
Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District Annual Scholarship ($923)
To residents of Morrow County that are enrolling in an accredited college or technical school maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher.
Application forms are available upon written or verbal request to the Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District. Be sure that completed applications, along with requested materials, are delivered by hand, or digitally (mocoswcd@redbird.net) by 4:30pm on March 29th.
The Selection Committee will consist of the members of the Morrow SWCD Board of Supervisors, SWCD Office Staff and (if possible) a representative from memorial scholarship families.
All scholarship recipient announcements will be made the week of April 8, 2024.
