Educating in Conservation Since 1999

There are over 3 miles of trails to experience at the Headwaters Outdoor Education Center. Whether you are looking for a mindful walk or training for that all-terrain race there will be a path for you here!

Please park vehicles around the loop of the drive. The gravel-way leading to the buildings should be kept clear for our staff and volunteers.

The buildings are open during educational program hours (see schedule). If you are visiting during one of our youth camp events please be respectful of their space.

If you see something that needs to be addressed at HOEC please call the Morrow SWCD Office at (419) 946-7923

In the case of an emergency call 911.

Tales from the Trails

Blue Trail

This trail meanders and loops along the south-most portion of the HOEC.

Notable features on this portion of the trail include the 3/4 acre, Bob Fissile Memorial, Duck-pond complete with a dock and bird blind, our cozy shelter house and a quiet walk toward the back of the property.

The trail totals up to a full 1 mile in length

Orange Trail

Orange trail showcases both our test food plots a 7 acre agricultural field hidden amongst the forestland.

This trail totals up to a full 1.5 miles in length.

Red Trail

If you prefer the sites and sounds of the prairie then the red trail is the one for you. The north loop being the least restrictive of any stretch at Headwaters, it's great for an easy stroll. You will also find the County Home Cemetery and catch a glimpse of the County Home Barn across Home Road on this Stretch.

This trail totals up to a full 1.3 miles in length.
