About the event

Katie Gerber of ODNR, Forestry Division with be visiting the Headwaters Outdoor Education Center to share with us her tipes and tricks on identifying and eradicating common woodland and prairie invasive species. This event is for all ages. Katie will be leading us around the property to identify these species growing in the wild, please dress accordingly.

An invasive species is an organism that is establishing itself in a region that it has not originated in (ex. eurasian mifloil in North America). This organism must be causing harm to the environment, human health and/or the economy in order to gain the title of invasive. There are many ways an invasive can come to populate a new region, none the less, managing these species is vital in the health of Ohio's native ecosystems.
